Now to the money.
Looking over their Form 990 for 2007 has $166,000 out of the $518,667 paid to Common Sense America and $55,000 to Design4 of Plant City Fl, . See their web site http://www.design4.org. They say the following on their web site. " We are problem solvers and story tellers - a team of strategists and planners, writers, designers and producers, and media professionals - who apply high-leverage creative messaging to tell your story convincingly, effectively, and efficiently." But everything at a price. Over 42% of their total income was paid out to these 2 organizations less rent, salaries web hosting, etc there isn't much left to spend on the message. Looks like a tax scam to me, no matter what they say about marriage
Who is paying for all this advertising??? Where is the money coming from??? The web site says 501(c)(4) keep donors names from being known, so they wont be harassed by those who want same sex marriage. the wording has an undercurrent of being afraid of donor being confronted on their stand on same sex marriage Donations. PAC can give to them money and their contributions would be kept behind closed doors. Brian Brown says he wasn't paid by Common Sense America even though he ran it!
Just found their 2008 Form 990 and their income has SKYROCKETED from $518,667 to $2,968,880 and Brian Brown is getting $130,000+ salary to boot from N.O.M.
http://www.nationformarriage.org/atf/cf/%7B39D8.... Getting the money by scamming those they scare about marriage? The form 990 Schedule B lists amount of contributions of $5,000 or more. NOT on entry has been made on all the lines saying who gave but it does lists the amounts. $450,000; $250,000; $150,000; $120,000 this goes on for 9 pages. 52 entries for contributions $5000 and more. This seems incomplete by not completing the donors on Schedule B. His worn out rhetoric # grandiosity: high-flown style; excessive use of verbal ornamentation; # palaver: loud and confused and empty talk!
Loving vs Virginia the Supreme court struck down the ban on inter-racial marriage even though the MAJORITY of Americans ,both Black and White, didn't want or approve of inter-racial marriage. Segregation in the cities of the 1967 US was the law of the land. If we allowed the people to vote on civil rights, there wouldn't be any progress on desegration. The Court had to act against the tyranny of the majority. Modern day religious and political leaders cite the union between men as ungodly and unnatural, much the same as the 1967 argument against races mixing. It was against God's plan by creating black and white skins on people to keep them apart. Marriage is a contract between 2 people and the state. Religion has NOTHING to do with marriage. Be it Catholic, Jewish or Muslim marriage, the pair must get the LICENSE from the STATE. We have forgotten that it people and the state who marry, not an Imam, reverend or priest. Being a Buddhist unconditional love is the goal that all human really seek. When we deny a marriage of two loving people, we have forgotten the Christian message of Jesus and loving each other. Judiasm & Islam made women property because of the dowery involved.
